Have you ever wished you could go on playing that game which has got you really interested but found yourself without energy to keep on pressing those buttons and being alert at the same time? Hardcore gamers know that when it comes to games, experience and sharp reflexes are what matter most.
Hardcore gamers are better defined as gaming fans which spend several hours at a time trying to beat a game going from level to level, some have reported to play for 15+ sessions in a single day; while this might be way too much time for some, gamers think this is not the case due to the fact that time goes by really quick when you are playing an entertaining game.
Those who have had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful country of Japan know that they have a great market audience when it comes to animation and games, this nation is also obsessed with energy drinks and health supplements, the energy drinks are called Genki drinks, these are basically tonics which claim to solve problems such as as tiredness, sore eyes, tired brains and even hangovers (much like Red Bull), however these drinks can contain anything from Vitamins to nicotine.
Health supplements are similar, they have been created to give players a boost while keeping them focused and alert, they come in the form of pills which are more convenient for people who prefer to take their supplements this way instead of drinking an energy blend in form of a syrup.
The “gamer enhancement pills” released to the Japanese market are advertised with the name of “Game Suppli” which range from blueberry tablets which are supposed to help a gamer’s tired eyes and there is also a transparent capsule version which contains a chemical called docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which is supposed to enhance a gamer’s concentration, this particular ingredient is also used in powdered baby milk in the USA so it can’t be all that bad right?
Relying on such powerful mixture gamers are now able to take on those difficult levels of HALO, World of Warcraft, Universal Boxing Manager, etc. and be able to get to the level they wish without running out of fuel, sort to speak. Other drinks such as Mountain Dew have noticed the buzz and adapted their drinks by printing a Halo 3 image in the cans. Could these pills one day become one more accessory in a hardcore gamer’s set? We’ll have to wait and see.

Buying games for your children can be both a blessing and a nightmare. I’ve read numerous articles about video game violence and how they are affecting children. Being a conscious parent of two, I found myself in a dilemma. My children want to play video games. To please my kids I began my little adventure for the perfect games.
For months now, I researched which games to buy and how to find them. Here are some great tips for picking the perfect game for your kids.
- Look at the title - The title says a lot about the game. Key words like guns, combat, puzzle, etc… can tell you which genre the game belongs to. Titles are often the key selling point for a video game publisher, so they tend to do a lot of research for both the title and the logo. For example: The title Smart Girl’s Playhouse tells me the game will be both educational and playful for my daughter.
- Package art - The packaging displays the key concepts or flare of the title. It can show you what type of content is in the game. You should look for key elements that will appeal to your children. For example: if you want something educational, look for numbers, letters, books, etc…
- ESRB - The Entertainment Software Rating Board is the only rating system for all videogames published in the United States. The rating displays what type of content is available in the game and the appropriate age range.
- Companies and branding image - Almost every company has their branding image and gaming specialty. Companies like EA are known for making sports games while UFO Interactive Games specializes in educational titles for ages 3 and up. You should research the company before purchasing a title to see their lineup of games.
I hope you can find this information useful as it has helped me. My children are playing games that they enjoy and learning how to read in the process.

Mahjong is a game that has ancient origins and has become popular around the world, evolving different rules and playing styles in different countries. There are many different versions of the game from the traditional Japanese and Chinese version to slightly different games played by Europeans and Americans. Each style of playing uses a different style of tile set although all are very similar and have characteristics of the original game.
The first Mahjong sets were made of ivory although modern sets are seldom manufactured using this material as it has become illegal in most places. Although ivory sets are not produced anymore. Most modern sets are still made to resemble ivory with pieces that are white or off white in color. The original Mahjong sets were works of art that featured tile designs that were unique to a family or lineage and are the inspiration for the artistic sets produced today.
Today Mahjong sets are made of many materials. The most traditional materials still used are animal bone which can be processed and finished to be very elegant and beautiful. Contemporary sets are more often made of plastic although fancy sets can be made of other materials such as resin. Most modern sets still try to resemble the original designs although some specialty sets diverge and give the game a more contemporary feel.
No matter what material a Mahjong set is made of, it still has characteristics from the original sets made centuries ago. All Mahjong sets feature pictures that are arranged similarly to card suits although the picture design can vary. Today Mahjong sets are still made that also have customized designed symbols on the back of the tiles for a specific person or family just like the original sets. Most tiles also share similar dimensions, usually 1 and ½ inches long and 1 inch wide. Most sets also include small tracks or stand to arrange tiles on so players can better see them yet shield them from the view of opponents.
Most Mahjong sets also include a box of some sort to store the tiles in. The boxes can vary in design as widely as the tiles them selves and can be made form the same material as the tiles or a different material such as wood, metal or even plastic. Some boxes are very ornate, decorated like the tiles and intended to be displayed while others are plain and made only to be functional. Some boxes are also lined with velvet or other soft material to protect the tiles; this is especially common for sets made of expensive quality materials to prevent damage.
The rules of the game can also differ depending on where you live and who you play with. Some people play with traditional rules that closely resemble the rules used when the game first originated, but there are many other variations that are also popular. If you are interested in Mahjong, you are sure to be able to find a set that reflects your style and taste and makes the game an enjoyable experience.

The NPD Group provided a reminder this week that market growth is not guaranteed. The gaming industry in the US ended the year (2007) with record retail sales of nearly $18 billion.
This week The NPD Group the industry-research firm released US retail sales data for the January 2008 period. While software sales for the month were up 11 percent to nearly $611 million, hardware sales fell by a quarter to around $378 million. Combine that with a modest decline in accessory sales, the industry overall was down 6 percent for the month, posting $1.18 billion compared to January 2007’s $1.25 billion take.
Despite this, the month contained indications that the industry actually grew. That was because the January 2007 reporting period was five weeks long as opposed to this January’s four-week span. Analyst Anita Frazier said that the numbers are much rosier when this adjustment was taken into account.
The big winner in the gaming market was console software which was nearly 50 percent up when compared to last year.
Hardware sales were down and a lot of this was to do with poor supply that assertion was backed up by a statement from Microsoft saying the Xbox 360 was suffering from temporary shortages.
Nintendo’s longtime lead on its competitors was also slimmed. The Wii once again took the console sales crown, by a narrower margin than in previous months. In a month that saw significant advances for the PlayStation 3’s chosen Blu-ray disc format, Sony’s system ran nearly neck-and-neck with the Wii, selling 269,000 systems compared to the Nintendo’s 275,000. 3rd placed Nintendo DS racked up 251,000 sales, while the Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable brought up the rear, selling 230,000 units each.
Familiar faces dominated the software list, with Modern Warfare and Call of Duty 4 for the Xbox 360 once again beating all challengers, notching up 331,000 in sales. Another favourite Guitar Hero on the Wii and Xbox 360 took third and fifth respectively, Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii was sixth and the DS edition of Mario Party in ninth.

While this statement doesn’t apply to everything in life it does apply to gaming, if you are a decent player who has a fair amount of intuition when it comes to solving the intricate puzzles that most games are made of then you know that even if you are a good player you will still have trouble unlocking each and every single section of a game, this holds true in each case when the game you are playing has been designed with several levels in many areas which need to be unlocked in order to advance to yet another level, hidden area or to acquire a special ability.
Unlocking every section of the game is actually nearly impossible, and a new games you are very likely to not even come close to unlocking 50% of the game hidden areas, if you have played games such as: House of the Dead 2, in the version of Grand Theft Auto, Halo, Pokémon, SimCity, The Legend of Zelda, etc. then you know that the amount of levels and hidden places is just incredible.
In Pokémon alone there is an enormous number of worlds that each player needs to clear in order to meet the final bosses, and many versions of this game the Pokémon which you have captured can be evolved when you migrate them from one version to another, this is actually something that not every player knows about but it would definitely be a very useful piece of information to know, thinking on this very same issue great online communities of players have come together to share their tips, tutorials and even cheats of each game they play.
Another good example of much needed information comes into play in the game of World of Warcraft, if you have played this game did you know that there is a gold rush, where each and every single player is trying to acquire this virtual gold in order to get items that will allow them to enhance the characters as they play in advance from level to level. Because everyone wants gold, savvy players have started to farm gold in order to sell it online in many players do in fact pay the price for this virtual gold, which is not cheap.
Those who play this game have developed several guides which include the best tips for making gold, some of these tutorials are actually sold but if you are able to find a community of gamers who are willing to share this information for free then you will obviously hit a jackpot. Acquiring these game cheats doesn’t necessarily mean that you are in fact cheating because many times you may just be stuck on a certain part of the game which you can’t beat, this is very normal and happens to most players which is why game cheats come in very handy.

From the days of the Atari system, to now, the days of the real life first person player. So interactive you literally flinch during the action as if you are really there. The realism alone is breathtaking. But there’s also the cost of the games nowadays that could also give an adult sticker shock. The whole industry has grown so fast that unless you constantly immerse yourself in the latest technology of this gaming world you could find yourself light years behind. Almost everything our teenagers do today is somehow influenced by some part of the gaming world. Some of which has lead to dangerous intersections.
Which is not surprising considering the content of some of these games. To be able to wade through the streets of a populated, modernized city while taking out bad guys with all sorts of weapons. And to be in the position of first person shooter almost gives a sense of power. Even in a make believe digital world. After experiencing some of this feeling I can easily see where a young person would get a sort of buzz from the action.
When I was younger, a lot younger, the Atari was the hottest ticket out there. To play space invaders at home, not at an arcade. Speaking of which. I would venture to say that market is taking hits everyday. And soon the Nintendo. Skipping an jumping around collecting coins and special powers with Mario racing to the finish line while being timed. All of which were amazing technology for there time. The games then don’t hold a candle to the worst game out there today. The experience, the effects or the realism. At times seeming so real it doesn’t feel like a game at all.
I’m grown up now but still enjoy a video game from time to time. If nothing else maybe just to feel young again. Something we all yearn for at some point. I have included a few links below to some sites that carry the latest Games. I hope you find them helpful.

Despite common belief, video games could be more than just addictive forms of entertainment and diversion. Although a lot of people say that these games could keep people from functioning as responsible and productive members of society, they could actually prove to be very beneficial.

Of course, other elements are present - the environment and community that people are in, music, family and peer conditions - which could all also have an effect to the behavior of people of all ages.
And so, it would only be fair that the benefits and advantages from playing video games are also brought to light. A lot of experts say that there are several video games which require linear thinking, dexterity, as well good coordination which could exercise the eyes and the brain, that would be effective and useful in keeping progressive illnesses at bay. Regardless of what kind of video game system you have, you are most probably thinking of ways on how to save money and still have all the games that you want. Most are priced at $50 each, which is considerably a high cost for something that you would only be playing for a short amount of time.
And so, you are left wondering how you would be able to collect all the games you want without having to shell out hundreds of dollars. Here are some great tips.
The first would be to always be on the lookout for sales and bargains at different video game stores. As video games are released in the market, they would, of course, be sold at the premium price, being new and all. Now, if you really want to have it right away, then you could purchase it at its high price. However, if you think you could a couple more days or weeks, you could do s, and you could expect that those stores would be dropping these video games’ prices and that would be exactly what you need to look out for.
The second would be to buy used video games. This is if you want to buy them at half their original price. A lot of people play video games and finish them quite quickly, and a lot of those people want to get rid of the games they have already “conquered”. You could find these from several stores and shops which sell used video games or on eBay auctions. You would just need to make sure that the video game you are getting would still be in good, playable condition.
The last one would be to just rent them. Similar to the video rental stores, there are many shops that allow the rental of different video games. You could usually play the game and beat it for a couple of days and after so, you could just return and get a new one to play. This would certainly be better than having to spend $50 for every game and afterwards collecting piles and piles of video games you rarely use again.

The video game industry is a hefty ten billion dollar industry. Ever since this industry has started to grow, researchers have begun analyzing the real effect of playing video games. Some of the positive effects would include a faster hand and eye coordination, cooperative participation, strategic thinking as well as the careful analyzing of in-game risks. These are definite positive effects and many researchers have indicated that video games could be the easier and healthier way in relieving stress as well.
Research has proven that if you would be playing a video game casually for around 30 minutes would be a great way to take off stress. When we say casual game, this would be something which is relatively easy to learn but could be difficult to master. These games could be very simple like hearts or minesweeper. These games would be very easy to learn and pick up its few rules and strategies. You could try to play for a while, and then just save your game to return to if you needed to ‘get away’ again and forget about your work and responsibilities for a couple more minutes.
Playing for just a couple of minutes - some 15 or 30 - daily would be sure to help you in concentrating on things that are less important so you could forget all the stresses of your day for a while. Aside from casual games, you could also play other more complicated video games to take off stress. There have been several studies that show that these video games have established a good sense of cooperation and team building when the players engaged in structured competitive play as well as playing with other online gamers.
And so, the next time you feel that you are stressed out, you could just relax with a casual or familiar video game and find yourself whisked away to relaxation.
